05/01/2012 - Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire could miss the remainder of the team's first-round playoff series against Miami after he was treated for lacerations on his left hand.
The Knicks have not commented officially on Stoudemire's status.
Numerous reports indicate that Stoudemire punched the glass case of a fire extinguisher after New York's 104-94 loss to the Heat on Monday. Paramedics were called in to treat the injury, which reportedly required stitches to close.
"He has a cut, that's all I know, how severe it is, I don't know," said Knicks head coach Mike Woodson after the game. He wouldn't officially comment on how the injury occurred.
Stoudemire left American Airlines Arena with his hand bandaged and his arm in a sling. He commented on his personal Twitter feed late Monday night.
"I am so mad at myself right now, I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions, headed home for a new start," he wrote. "We all have done thing out of anger that we regret. That makes us human. Bad timing on my part. Sorry guys. This to shall pass."
The Knicks don't play again until Thursday for Game 3 of the best-of-seven series at Madison Square Garden. The Heat have a 2-0 series edge.
New York was 14-5 without Stoudemire in the lineup this season. He missed most of the final month of the truncated campaign because of a bulging disc in his lower back.
